The judges particularly rewarded use of the Web for telling stories, but they said execution needs to improve overall. Specifically, while they acknowledged student news organizations can be at a disadvantage in terms of the availability of design resources, they said students should go beyond templates and create some more original work.
The judges also said hierarchy and alignment seemed to be lacking in much of the work they saw today, and while there was good Flash work submitted, they generally perceived work done in Flash as “clunky.”
